How painting work is usually priced
Per square foot of wall area is common for interiors and exteriors, with trim, doors and ceilings priced separately. Your rate should cover labor, paint, prep and your margin. Say how many coats it includes, since that changes the price.

How do you price a painting job?
Measure the paintable area, multiply by your rate per square foot, then add trim, doors, ceilings and prep as their own lines. Add a line for paint if you supply it.
Do I price walls by floor area or wall area?
Wall area. Floor area is a shortcut some painters use for quick quotes, but wall area is more accurate. State which one your rate is based on.
